Type M Visa (Refugee)
Visa granted to foreigners who wish to enter or have entered the country, classified as refugees or asylum seekers by the Colombian Government at the request of the Advisory Commission for the Determination of Refugee Status, and in accordance with the current international instruments on the subject.
Requirements:
Attach a copy of the main page of the current passport where the owner’s personal data is recorded
Submit a passport or travel document issued by an authority or state recognized by the Government of Colombia, with a minimum validity of one hundred and eighty (180) days, in good condition, with a minimum of two (2) blank pages.
Without prejudice to the provisions of current international treaties and instruments, travel documents issued by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN), accepted by the Colombian State, will be valid.
Copy of the passport page where the last Colombian entry or exit stamp appears, as the case may be.
For previous visas issued without an OCR or quick read code, attach a copy of the page containing the last Colombian visa. If the visa was issued with an OCR this requirement is not necessary.
If the procedure is to be finalized by a proxy, attach the duly granted power.
Attach the documents described in the first four points, and a photocopy of Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs decision to acknowledge refugee or asylum seeker status.
PLEASE NOTE: Visa applications may be rejected or sent back for additional information, according to the judgment and discretionary power of Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs(Cancilleria). No right to reimbursement of visa application fees or visa fees applies in the event of applications being rejected or sent back for further information.
If your visa application is approved, please remember that you have 15 calendar days to register it with the Colombian immigration authorities (Migración Colombia), or you could receive a fine. The foreigner ID card has an additional cost of COP$190,000, payable to Migración Colombia.
